About Us

Since our launch in 1998, more than 400 small businesses have benefited from GMCI’s educational and training offerings. Over 70 companies have received GMCI’s tailored, hands-on technical and business support resulting in new technologies, new products or processes, cost savings, revenue increases, financing, new and retained technical jobs, and improved market position.

GMCI provides the in-depth assistance required to overcome many of the obstacles small companies face in penetrating high-technology markets. The long-term success of GMCI firms also means increased government buying power (lower costs, higher quality materials, and a larger selection of goods and services), and greater economic and social impact of federal programs through technology transfer and successful commercialization.

GMCI is named in honor of lifelong innovator and entrepreneur Garrett A. Morgan, who overcame adversity to launch several successful technology-driven businesses. Morgan achieved amazing success during a time when few minorities dared dream of being entrepreneurs. His best known inventions, the automatic traffic signal and the gas mask, have saved countless lives.
